| Description |
Something I began when I started the Sons of Shadow was the concept of an SG Hail--a sort of shout-out to announce your login, logout, and victories of any type (leveling, completing a tough mission, Strike Force, etc.) to all members of the SG.
Loosely, we agree that when one person uses the SG Hail, all other online members of the group respond in kind. Makes for something of a roll call, without having to open the SG Roster Screen--plus, it establishes a rapport with your fellow SG members.
All members learn to bind the hail to a single key, so that they don't have to type it everytime. Our group hail is "All Hail the Shadow!", based on our cult-like theme.
I'm sure someone's posted a tip for binding a line of chat, but I'll re-iterate those steps here:
1. Choose a target key, preferably something away from keys you regularly have your fingers on. We use the letter P as our target key.
2. Open a chat line, then type /bind p sg All Hail the Shadow!
P = target key
sg = sets the chat channel to SG only
All Hail the Shadow! is our SG Hail. Make up one to suit your SG. We've used the same one for years now.
3. Press Enter. Seems like it does nothing at this point.
4. Without opening a chat line, hit your target key. The SG Hail now displays to all online SG members.
If your SG agrees to respond in kind, they simply hit the target key, and you'll immediately know who's home! Plus, it can start up a quick conversation, too.
