Eventually in your villainous career you are going to run into missions where you need to defeat a hero or arch-villain. If you tend to be a solo player, these can be very challenging, but I use a method that is very effective.
1) Run your missions on any difficulty level except the highest. If you are solo, this will ensure that your hero or AV will appear as a more-manageable Elite-Boss (EB). However, sometimes, even an EB will give the solo player trouble, leading to...
2) Get a Shivan Shard. These can be obtained by running a mission for the Evil Scientist in Bloody Bay, and allow you to summon a Shivan Elite Boss to fight by your side. Not only will the Shivan add to your damage, but their radiation-based powers will keep the EB from regenerating faster than you can whoop on him/her.
