Unless you've wandered away from City of Heroes/City of Villains or have just been living under a rock, you've already heard the news by now. "Midnight Hour", the twelfth free expansion of the game, has now gone live. Here's a quick recap of what's coming with this issue:
- Finally a real in game debut for the Midnight Squad, including new story arcs about the magical scholars and their plans to end the Rikti threat.
- A new time-travel zone, the Roman Cimeroran Peninsula. This is a co-op zone open to both heroes and villains.
- New unlockable Roman costume pieces.
- Villainous Epic Archetypes! Players who get a villain to level 50 will be able to play as a Wolf Spider or Blood Widow.
- The Hollows zone is getting a makeover. There's a trainer and hospital in the zone, mission doors won't have you running far away into places far past your level, a new contact (Meg Mason) is there to give out repeatable missions, and more villain groups have moved in.
- And finally, more "quality of life" improvements than you can shake a mouse at! The devs have been hard at work at all those little things that weren't necessarily broken, but could be improved to make the game more enjoyable.
A list of all the updates from this issue can be found here. Or you can just play the game and see them for yourself.
Oh, and in case you missed them, there are new interviews on the web: Art Lead Ken Morse talks with Top Ten Hammer about the process of creating the look for Cimerora, and Matt Miller talks with Boomtown about this issue.
