Okay, in order to understand what I am looking for, you have to read a bit of background first.
When I was in college, I was looking for a job that would pay me decently. My friend said that there was a steel foundry nearby looking for workers, so we went and got jobs there. My grandfather had spent his entire life in a steel foundry, doing hard work every day (before he passed on), so it seemed only natural that I should give it a go. I only lasted a few months in the foundry, but I got to try a bit of everything while I was there. One night, two of the guys who poured steel came to see me. It turned out that the 3rd man of their crew had broken his leg in an accident, and they needed a volunteer to help them pour. Knowing that I was always up for an adventure, they came to see me. I, of course, jumped at the chance to pour steel. I spent the rest of the night holding the ladle (think big giant bucket full of molten steel) steady while the other two operated the controls to feed the steel into the molds. After our last pour of the night, we went to pour the remainder of the ladle back into the cauldron and call it a night. As the steel poured into the cauldron, the ladle got lighter and lighter, and wanted to swing away from me and into the other two guys. I braced myself, and held tight. And as I watched, I saw a drop of 2000 degree liquid steel go up in the air, and come right back down on my leg. You see, I was wearing an asbestos jacket, but in only covered a little ways past my waist. Plus I had a hole in the knee of my jeans, which I had been to stupid to tape up. So the drop went up, and the drop came down… and shot straight down into the hole of my jeans, and landed on the inside of my right calf. It was pretty hot. Heck, it was the hottest darn thing I had ever felt! But I couldn’t let go of the ladle, so I just shook my leg a couple of times and set it back down. A couple of minutes later the job was done, and I went over to the water fountain to rinse off my wound. The guys were impressed that I hadn’t hollered or let go of the ladle, but I just wanted to cool it off! It took over a month to fully heal that patch of skin, and even today I have a nice smooth crater scar in my leg to remind me of the time I was baptized in fire and earth in the steel foundry.
So… here’s the contest!
Make me a tattoo for my scar! I want a ring (or possibly a band or sleeve) that goes around my crater (can’t tattoo over scarred skin). The ring should be a representation of fire and earth. I don’t care how fancy or basic you want to get, just make sure it represents fire and earth. And don’t worry about how detailed you get… I don’t even know what I want in this tattoo! The winner might be intricate artwork, or it might be basic tribal design. I don’t know, but I will know it when I see it. Oh, and one note about the size: my scar fits nicely under a quarter.
The prizes:
1st place: 100 credibility and a game card (sent from me personally)
2nd place: 75 credibility and a Gameamp hat (sent from me personally)
3rd place: 50 credibility
I reserve the right to use or not use a submission as my tattoo. You all might turn in some fantastic submissions (as I am certain you will!), but I might not use any of them. If I do use one, your prize will be your payment. So if you don’t like the prizes enough to donate you artwork, then don’t participate. And as much as I like you all, I will not have somebody’s signature on my leg. So if you sign a design that I want to use, I will remove the signature before I have the tattoo done. I am the sole judge of this contest, so this is open to ALL Gameamp members and staff! All submissions should be put into the Nak's Tats Gallery. This contest will run until May 31st and the results will be given soon after. You may submit up to 3 pieces of artwork for this! If I get a tattoo done with one of your designs, I will post pictures of it. If I don’t use anybody’s design, prizes will still be given out. So get your creative juices flowing, and design something good for my leg! Thank you all, and good luck!
