In recent CoH/CoV news, many things have come out. I figured I’d give a solid update on a good amount of those topics, so enjoy the following. From March 26th until today, April 3rd, things seem to be snow balling as the come from the source of a great game. As Issue 9 comes barreling around the corner as the test server opened yesterday, things are just getting better in game. While this article may hit on some of those Issue 9 items, it won’t be all about it. Instead, this article will give a heads up on what’s happening around that game you proudly call your villains crib. Without further ado, I give to you...The News.
On March 26th, MSNBC came out with an article concerning the Top 5 Games for the best In-Game Avatars. With this announcement, CoH lovers saw City of Heroes hit that list like any knew it would. When you want to get out of that monotonous life of accounting, waster management, and standing on the corner begging for coins then it’s time to go to City of Heroes. You know you always wanted to be a hero, so jump in game, make an avatar of the person you always wanted to be with CoH/CoV. Using the character creation screen you can design anything from facial expressions, grotesqueness, on down to the clothes you roll in to make the hero or villain of your dreams. While the news article only named CoH as a top five, we know that villains get that same character creation fun. For the full article, check it out here: MSNBC's Top Five
On March 27th, NCSoft and Planetwide Media announced the launch of a Comic Book Creator contest. This contest will be generated by your peers and you, so those of you that enjoy making comics, check it out. The contest has already started, but it doesn’t end until April 27th, so you may want to get cracking. The comic itself needs to be in a four to eight page format, use a hero/villain from your online gameplay, and create it using: Planetwide Media's Comic Book Creator™ software. For complete details on this subject, please visit The Comic Book Creator page.
With the passing of March 29th, news came out concerning voting, by woman, for the Girl Gamers Awards for 2007 for best MMO. City of Heroes and City of Villains are proud to announce that this is their second nomination for this award, and would like female gamers to vote for them to show your support! The polls have begun as well, but you can continue to vote all the way out until April 29th. This is for those ladies out there that want their voices heard or even for those that just want to throw their two cents in. With polls ranging from console gaming to desktop gaming, you’re sure to find something to vote on. For more information please visit: QJ.net.
Last, but in no way the least, comes some great news! On April 3rd, CoX announced that you can earn some free months of game play. Yes, you heard me correctly, FREE. It’s called the referral program, and all you need to do is get your friends to start playing, if they aren’t already. The way it works is this:
1. Current player e-mails friend’s 10 day trial codes.
2. If a friend (just 1) buys a standard account and pays for one month, then the referring player gets an automatically credited month of free game play.
That’s it folks, just two easy steps. For each friend successfully recruited, you’ll get one month of free game play. The way you invite your friends is through you’re Account Management page at PlayNC.com. For step by step instructions (including screenshot’s) go to this page.
Well folks, that was a lot to digest but highly informative all at once. For up to date gaming news, stay tuned to Gameamp.com
