VincentGXs Guide for a Fire Blast/Radiation Manipulation Corruptor
When I first made a fire/rad corruptor, the purpose was to solo using radiation manipulations debuffs to
weaken my enemies and then use fire blasts fast attacks to defeat them quickly. But as I gained in levels I
found myself teaming more because radiation manipulation was in demand to fight arch villains, heroes,
and giant monsters. I was still able to fight solo, but the build that I had made was just as useful for teams.
This guide will tell you, in my opinion, what powers are useful, which are not, and those that are vital, as
well as recommended slotting and IO sets to use along with Pool Powers to use.
Fire Blast Set- What makes Fire Blast a great set to use is not it's attack power, but it's fast recharge,
low overall endurance cost, and it's secondary ability for damage over time, which works very nicely with
a Corruptors inherit ability Scourge, which doubles all damage as an enemy loses HP
Flares- Throws Flares at the target. Little damage, but very fast. This power is debatable. Some will tell you
the damage is not worth it, but I find the fast recharge and low endurance cost make this power useful for
keeping a constant stream of damage on a boss level enemy or above. Slot with 3 damage, 1 accuracy,
and 1 endurance redux
Recommended IO sets: Entropic Chaos, Thunder Strike, Decimation, Devastation
Fire Blast- Blasts a targeted foe and sets him on fire for a short time. Slower recharge than Flares, but more
damage. About double the damage of Flares, but slightly slower, it's your standard ranged attack. Slot with 3
damage, 1 accuracy, and 1 endurance redux
Recommended IO sets: Entropic Chaos, Thunder Strike, Decimation, Devastation
Fireball- Burns a targeted foe, and a nearby radius. Any foe in that area is burned and damaged over a short
period of time. Your staple AoE attack, it's power is a little more than flares over all, but it's hitting everything
around the target, couples very nicely with Rain of Fire. Slot with 3 damage, 1 accuracy, and 1 endurance redux
Recommended IO sets: Positrons Blast
Rain of Fire- Summons a fire storm over a targeted location that burns foes over a large area. A fun power to
use, but it scatters enemies almost as soon as you use it. Use it after Lingering Radiation and Rain of Fires
full power can be seen. Slot with 3 damage, 1 endurance redux, 1 recharge
Recommended IO sets: Ragnarok, Positrons Blast NOTE: obviously you can't use Ragnarok yet, because it's
a purple set and can't be used till lvl 50, but the tactic behind this is making use of Ragnaroks Chance for Knockdown
and turning a highly damaging power into one that nearly constantly keeps enemies on their backs and clears a group
of minions in almost no time flat
Fire Breath- A cone of fire that burns all foes within its narrow diameter. Very accurate and very deadly at medium range.
Fire breath is powerful, equal to about Blaze, but it's activation time and cone arc make it difficult to make the most of
this power. If you don't take Flares, pick this one up. Slot with 3 damage, 1 accuracy, and 1 endurance redux.
Recommended IO sets: Positrons Blast
Aim- Aim greatly increases the Accuracy of your attacks for a few seconds. Slightly increases Damage. Very useful,
almost necessary for hitting those Nemesis that have been boosted by Vengeance as well as adding that little extra
damage to finish off some pesky minions. Slot with 3 recharge
Recommended IO sets: Adjusted Targeting(4 slots)
Blaze-A short-range, but devastating flame attack. One of the best attack powers in the game, this power does
excellent damage and is nearly instantaneous, with the only downsides being that you have to be a little outside
melee range to use it and the endurance cost is a little high (about 10 pts), but those are negliable with the damage
this little monster does. Slot with 3 damage, 1 accuracy, and 1 endurance redux
Recommended IO sets: Entropic Chaos, Thunder Strike, Decimation, Devastation
Blazing Bolt- A long range beam of Fire that blasts your foes. Bonus to hit. Can be interrupted. A sniper power that
let's you get in one good shot before storming in. Useful for pulling one enemy at a time if you choose to. Slot with
3 Damage, 1 accuracy, 1 endurance redux, and 1 interrupt redux
Recommended IO sets: Sting of the Manticore, Executioners Contract
Inferno-Unleashes a massive fiery explosion around you. Leaves you drained and unable to recover Endurance. A real
crowd clearing power, this will decimate any foe below boss lvl and anything left will take continuous heavy fire damage for
awhile. Slot with 3 damage, 1 accuracy, and 1 recharge.
Recommended IO sets: Sciroccos Dervish
Radiation Manipulation- A balanced mix of buffs and debuffs with a few oddities thrown in, Rad Manipulation is great
for either the solo or team players.
Radiant Aura-You can use Radiant Aura to heal some of your wounds, and the wounds of your group. This power has
a small radius, so your allies need to be near you if they wish to be affected. You have to take this, but that doesn't
mean it's useless. When fully slotted it can heal a about 1/4 of your total HP, and Master Minds will find it nice to have
their pets healed for the next fight, so they don't have to resummon them. Slot with 3 heals, 1 endurance redux, and
2 recharges.
Recommended IO sets: Miracle, Numinas Convalience, Doctored Wounds
Radiation Infection- Infects a targeted foe with deadly radiation, severely reducing his Accuracy and Defense. All foes
that come near the target will also become infected. The Radiation Infection will last until you deactivate it, or until the
original target is defeated. Your main debuff for the rest of your life. This power is the one that will keep you alive by
making you harder to hit and your enemies easier to hit, very useful on bosses, and elite bosses. Slot with 2 tohit debuffs,
2 defense debuffs, and 1 endurance redux
Recommended IO sets: Undermimed Defenses and Dampened Spirits (6slot and use 3 from the 2 sets)
Accelerate Metabolism- Activating this power emits radiation that increases the running speed, attack speed, Endurance
recovery, and damage potential of all nearby allies. Affected allies' metabolisms are increased so much that they become
resistant to effects such as Sleep, Hold, Disorient, Immobilization and Endurance Drain. A team buff that boosts everyones stats by a small amount. It's very useful for reducing a lot of mez effects on you and your teammates as well as giving a small
boost to your endurance recovery. Slot 3 with recharges
Recommended IO sets: none
Enervating Field-While this power is active, you irradiate a targeted foe, and all foes nearby, with a deadly dose of radiation.
This radiation weakens exposed targets, decreasing the damage of their attacks. It also significantly weakens their resistance,
so they will take much more damage from other attacks. Your second debuff and one of your most vital, this power is the one
that helps defeat archvillian class enemies by reducing both their damage and resistance, but the down side is this sucks
endurance more that a teenager with a twelve pack of soda. Slot with 2 endurance redux
Recommended IO sets: there are no IO sets for this type of power
Mutation-Using a concentrated burst of radiation, you can revive a fallen villain and Mutate him into a killing machine. The Mutated
villain has increased damage, Accuracy, Endurance recovery, and attack speed and is protected from XP Debt fort 20 seconds.
The entire experience is very taxing on the Mutated villain, and he will soon be severely weakened. All effects of the Mutation will
eventually wear off. More than your standard rez, this power wakes up your ally and turns him into a monster. Downed Brutes and
Stalkers are the most useful to use this power on, and I guess you rez others if the team is wiped out but you. Slot with 2 recharge
Recommended IO sets: none
Lingering Radiation-You can emit Lingering Radiation that reduces the attack rate, movement speed, and Regeneration rate of the
target, and all nearby foes. The last power in your archvillain killer and the most powerful. Primiraly, you'll use this to slow down minions
and it's so they can stay under Rain of Fire, but against bosses and AVs, even giant monsters, this will speed thier defeat greatly.
Basically, it shuts down their regeneration so you and the rest of the team can bring their HP down to nothing in no time. Slot with 2 slow,
2 recharge, and 2 accuracy.
Recommended IO sets: Pace of the Turtle, Tempered Readiness
Choking Cloud- While active, you generate toxic radioactive gas around yourself. Any nearby foes may be overcome by the gas, leaving
them choking and helpless. I never took this power for two reasons; one, I killed enemies so fast that they almost never got near me, and
two, it has a very high endurance cost. If you do take it slot with endurance redux and holds. Slot with 2 hold, and 2 endurance redux.
Recommended IO sets: Ghost Widows Embrace, Neurotic Shutdown
Fallout- After an ally falls in battle, you can activate this power to extract the energy from their body to deal a massive amount of Energy
damage to any nearby foes. All affected foes are extremely weakened by the Fallout, and their Accuracy, Defense, Damage and Damage
Resistance is severely reduced. Although I have no previous experience with this power, I'm told it's great for Mothership Raids in the Rikti
War Zone. That said, I never took this power because of the strict conditions that went with it, namely the death of an ally and them being
near the targets. If taken, slot with 2 damage, and 2 recharges
Recommended IO sets: Scriccos Dervish
EMP-You can unleash a massive pulse of electromagnetic energy. This EMP can affect machines, and is even powerful enough to affect
synaptic brain patterns. It will drain the Endurance and HP Regeneration of all affected targets and leave them incapacitated and Held for
a long while. Additionally, most machines and robots will take moderate high damage. However, this power uses a lot of Endurance and
leaves you unable to recover Endurance for a while. This power is awesome. Not only do you hold any foe that's hit by this, but you stop
their regeneration as well and drain their endurance as well. This makes a great panic button if things get too dicey and can turn the tide of
some battles as well. Slot with 2 hold or 2 endurance mods, 2 accuracy, and 1 recharge
Recommended IO sets: Ghost Widows Embrace, Nuerotic Shutdown
Patron Powers: Mace Mastery- A solid set that has the standard group immobilize, hold, shield and summon minion, but with a few thing I like
Web Envelope- A group immobilizer that slows as well. Great for holding enemies in place for Rain of Fire and Fireball
Recommended IO sets: Trap of the Hunter
Scorpion Shield- Unlike the other patron shields, this one is defense based rather than resistance based. Couples nicely with Rad Infection
to avoid attacks. Slot with 3 defense
Recommended IO sets: none
Web Cocoon- A single target hold. Skipped it because I have a group hold. Slot with 2 holds, 1 accuracy, and 1 recharge
Recommended IO sets:Ghost Widows Embrace, Nuerotic Shutdown
Summon Archnobot Disruptor- A nice bot to have, if only for a limited time. Also makes a good target besides you for enemies. Slot with
2 damage, 2 accuracy, and 2 recharge
Recommended IO sets: Commanding Prescense
Pool Powers- these are only my recommendations, you can substitute whichever powers you would like.
Flight: Hover, Fly
Fitness: Swift, Health, Stamina
Leadership: Assault
Scourge Tactics- These are some tactics that I made up as I played, they have proven very effective when dealing with a lot of situations.
Endless Fire Chain- Best against bosses, EBs; Lay down Rad infection, Enverating field, and Lingering Rad. Attack in this order. Flares-->
Fire Blast--> Blaze--> Flares--> Fire Blast--> Fireball--> Flares.. with Rads debuffs working and this constant attack, even a boss will fall
fast
Helpless Inferno- Best against large groups; Center yourself in the middle of a group, use EMP, then Inferno. Any enemies left will be held
and give you time to regroup or finish them off
Hells Rain- Best against large groups; Lay down Lingering Rad, Web Envelope, then attack with Rain of Fire and Fireball. Most enemies will
have their HP reduced by Fireball so much that Rain of Fire will finish them off.
Well, that's my take on these sets. Many of you will want to modify a lot of this to suit your own playstyle, but that's fine. After all, this game
is about making a toon that is yours and no one else's. Now go out there and do some villainy!
