I want to credit the Amp'ers who helped me make this guide possible: Mzzkc, Phedre_D, Villianess Vines, BishopDon & a special thank you to midnight guard who told me where to stick it (j/k bud ;) )
This Guide is intending to show how IO's can benefit the casual player in a PvE (player vs environment) VS standard slotting of SO's. *IF* you are looking to eeek out every possible % point for a PvP character this info wasn't meant for you. It is intended to show how IO's can be a blessing in lower character maintainence and possible infamy savings.
As for Infamy Production, the character I run has continiously ran in SG/VG mode with only the cash gleaned from enhancement, recipe, and salvage sales to supplement mission rewards. My cash on hand has allowed me to fully slot all IO sets to within 3 lvl +/- my current lvl except for some of my obsolete/seldom powers. < ATM I think Brawl >
Point # 1 - Pound for pound a complete set of IO's compete % wise with slotting an equivalent lvl SO's for ACC, DAM, end. red, etc... In essence at lvl 10 IO's outperform TO's (Training Origin Enhancements), at lvl 13 perform equivalent to DO's (Dual Origin enhancements), and again at lvl 26 when they become equivalent of SO's (Single Origin Enhancements). They begin to outpace SO's bonuses at lvl 30ish. Number crunching data was found at:
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/index.php/Inve...ncement_Scaling
Point # 2 - IO's are low maintainence and never grey out (loose effectiveness) when you outlvl them. TO's / DO's / SO's all suffer from planned obsolescence... Fall behind on enhancement upkeep and your combat effectiveness suffers. IO's can always gain value from upgrading but never zero out like the others. There isn't the urgency to "Chase the upgrade Rainbow" that slotting SO's & DO's produces.
Standard enhancements (SO/DO) become useless unless upgraded at 18 & 23 for DO's and at 28, 33, 38, & 43 for SO's. Meaning that total refit is absolutely nessecary to maintain ANY usefulness in every single power slotted...
IO's are the "little engines that could" of the enhancement world. If I were neglectful of character maintainence, My lvl 20 IO enhancements would still produce a %bonus ( however insignificant) at lvl 50. Whereas a lvl 40 SO would have been of zero benefit for 7 lvls.
IE now that my enhancements are providing a lasting benefit I can slot the powers I use most often with Current IO's and let the others slide as needed until I am flush with Infamy. Over the long haul the stress of constant maintainence of standard enhancements took leveling for me personally and turned a "Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy" moment into oh crap, my enhancements just zeroed out and I shouldn't have blown my infamy on that @#$$% shiney at the black market.
Point # 3 - IO sets have the perk of offering set bonuses for 2 or more enhancements of same set being slotted in same power. Handy things like adding +percentage to hp, end, resists, etc... For exact Information regarding set bonuses provided please refer to: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/index.php/Io_sets#Overview
Ok that is La'Petite Morts 2 infamy on the value of using IO's (Invention Origin enhancements) instead of SO's (Single Origin enhancements). I hope you find this guide useful or at least thought provoking. YMMV
