Hehe, my title rhymes...Anyway, howdy. In case you couldn't tell, this is a guide for the Electric Melee set for the Brute. I'm gonna give an overview of all the powers, list some helpful tips on how to use this set, and list some technical info. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. Or guide. Whatever.
Electric Melee
Charged Brawl
Available at level 1
A quick, weak jab with a base recharge of 3 seconds
Debion: This is a weak attack that works well at lower levels when you have a limited pool of attacks. If you do take this, you might want to respec it out once you get some of the more powerful attacks in the higher levels. It can help with building Fury as well, which could make it useful.
Ranking: 3 out of 5
Slotting: 3 Damage, 1 Accuracy
Havoc Punch
Available at level 1
A medium-strengthed 2 handed punch with a base recharge of 6 seconds
Debion: This is your standard attack in you attack chain. Nothing fancy, but it does considerably more damage than Charged Brawl. It's not impressive, but it's pretty much necessary. Get it ASAP.
Ranking: 4 out of 5
Slotting: 3 Damage, 2 Accuracy
Jacobs Ladder
Available at level 2
A short ranged electric burst with a base recharge of 8 seconds
Debion: This is your next basic attack. It does about the same damage as Havoc Punch (maybe a bit more) but recharges a bit slower. It can also hit a few people if they're lined up behind your target in close range. Other than that, it might as well be a single target attack.
Ranking: 4 out of 5
Slotting: 3 Damage, 2 Accuracy
Build Up
Available at level 6
Gives you a 20% boost to Accuracy and 80% boost to Damage for 10 seconds. Base recharge is 90 seconds.
Debion: The same as any other build up power. I'd wait to get this until you get a few more attacks. But I'd defintely get it.
Ranking: 5
Slotting: 3 Recharge
Thunder Strike
Available at level 8
You jump into the air in slow motion, launching a 2 handed smash as you come down. Base recharge is 18 seconds
Debion: 2 words: Awesome power. Not only does it look cool, but it's just amazingly good. It does more damage to your target than any of your other attacks so far and it deals about half of the damage it did to your target to everyone around him. It also stuns your target for a little while! Get it ASAP and never regret it
Ranking: 5
Slotting: 3 Damage, 2 Accuracy, 1 Recharge
Taunt
Available at level 12
All enemies in the area have to attack you. Lasts 41 seconds with a recharge of 10 seconds
Debion: Woohoo, it's a taunt. Since Brutes are called upon to tank, this could be useful. But I'd pass it up. This is more of a tanker schtick. Go ahead and skip it
Ranking: 2
Slotting: 1 Taunt, 2 Recharge
Chain Induction
Available at level 18
You shock one enemy, causing electricity to jump off of him and attack other enemies. Base recharge is 14 seconds
Debion: This is one of your 4 ways to attack mobs. It does about the same damage as one of your basic attacks but it has a nice little trick to it. Once you hit the enemy, if any enemy is near your target, the nearby enemy gets shocked. There is one minor drawback: For some reason, when your electricity jumps to another enemy, that enemy takes damage as if your target dealt the damage so the recently-shocked enemy gives out a little less XP. Kinda annoying, but it's hardly anything to worry about.
Ranking: 4
Slotting: 3 Damage, 1 Accuracy, 1 Recharge
Lightning Clap
Available at level 26
You clap your hands which creates a big red bang that stuns and knockbacks enemies nearby. Base recharge is 30 seconds
Debion: Meh, it's okay. Yeah it's an AoE stun and thats never a bad thing, but the knockback can be kind of annoying for the team. Also, the stun is kinda short (bas stun is about 10 seconds) and it draws all the aggro to you which I suppose is great if yur tanking. I'd take it if you plan on PvPing or soloing alot. Even in teams it's okay, just use it sparsely.
Ranking: 3
Slotting: 2 Accuracy, 2 Stun, 1 Recharge
Lightning Rod
Available at level 32
You turn into a lightning bolt, fly into the sky, and come crashing down onto a nearby mob. Base recharge is 90 seconds
Debion: Fun stuff right here. The animation is probably one of the coolest ever and it deals amazing AoE damage. It also knocks the enemies down. It's just great. Get this ASAP, and enjoy the fireworks.
Ranking: 5
Slotting: 3 Damage, 1 Accuracy, 2 Recharge
Pool Powers
Ok, so you got the advice on the powers. Now for powers that go good with the set
Speed: Hasten is always good for any set really but with moves like Lightning Rod that are awesome but kinda slow in recharging, this can easily let you dish out your best attacks more often. And who can argue with that?
Fitness: Yeah...get Fitness, get Stamina. Thats all I'm gonna say
Leadership: A great team set that also helps you? Well thats just dandy. Comes with a +Damage buff and a +Accuracy buff for you and your team. I use that accuracy buff as my own Focused Accuracy when I solo and it works great. If you have easy means of keeping your end up or not a lotta toggles, I'd definetly take up this set. Great for teams and great for you.
Presence: For all you Brutes who wanna tank, I'd take this set for 2 reasons: It comes with Taunt, which is the exact same as your Taunt from the set, but if you get that you get access to a Fear and a PBAoE Fear! Mix Thunder Strike and Lighting Clap's stun with Presence's fears and you're some kind of Brutroller! But you sadly have to pick up the Taunt move and have room for 3 extra powers in your build. Meh, it's a thought.
Tactics and Such
So now that you have the powers, I'm gonna give you some advice on how to use em. I always start with Build Up and Lightning Rod when I enter a mob. Then I start launching my other AoE attacks into the mob (Thunder Strike and Chain Induction) and if anyone is almost dead I top em off with Havoc Punch or Jacob's Ladder. Now the Lightning Rod and AoE's should take just about as long as Build Up lasts so you get all the bang for your buck. If there's still lots of mob left after all that, I Lightning Clap to stun them long enough for my team to take em out. If Lightning Rod isn't up which would be sad, start with Lightning Clap. Draws all the aggro just as well as Lightning Rod if you're tanking. Then Build Up, AoE's, top em off. That's pretty much Electric Melee tactics in a nutshell.
Well, that's my guide for the Electric Melee set. I'd like to thank you again for taking the time to read this thing. Hope it helps you somehow get a feel for this fun, versatile set. Now go out there and leave your opponents shocked! (Sorry bout the pun, had to put it in here somewhere :P)
