Nothing wrong with having a healthy dose of altoritis. With the speed you are going through your alts we will soon have build suggestions for about every AT combo. Which would be awesome!! So keep them coming.
I have a level 28 fire/fire dominator myself, but it is one of my least favourite alts. Basically if I can't do damage I don't enjoy the toon. The weird thing is though, that she is doing actually quite a lot of damage, and manages to pull a lot of aggro as well. But since she is a big squishy as well I often have to restrain myself from going full blast, and that is where I get frustrated. Many of the powers are melee and AOE, which are both quite bad for your own health. I am sure there are dominator guru's around that love the set and pwnz everybody. I am just struggling with it.

Fire/Fire is a very solid damage dealer, but it pays for that damage with a lesser amount of mitigation. Fire Control has the basics for controlling, a single target immob, an aoe immob, a single target hold, an aoe hold, and an aoe stun. But Bonfire is a situational power, as it does knock *back*, not knock down, like Ice Patch and Earthquake. Other powersets will have sleeps available, or confusion powers, that have a long duration and really mitigate damage, especially for a soloist. Fire Control has Hot Feet, which can really ramp up your damage output when in melee range, but it can be a real endurance hog before you get stamina and SOs for end redux. Also, its pets are squishy lil aggro grabbers, as opposed to Jack that can tank for you, or Singularity which can tank and spams holds/immobs for you.
Other secondaries have built in secondary effects that help mitigate damage, like /energy having knock back and knock down, as well as stuns, or /ice have slows and -recharge. All /fire has is additional damage in the form of DoT added onto the main damage of its attacks.
The sets work well together, especially because of Fiery Embrace boosting your control powers damage, and Consume helping you with endurance woes because of Hot Feet and other AoEs. If you really want to stick with this build, then I'd focus on taking single target effects early on, to help prevent taking to much aggro, or using so much endurance. Later on when you have Stamina and SO end redux in your attacks, you can pick up more AoEs and be a really good AoE killer. Flashfires and Fire Cages to control the mob, then Fire Breath and Combustion for good AoE damage, that'll take out most of the minions, then you can focus on using Char and your single target blasts to take down the LTs and any Bosses that may be around.
It's a late bloomer, but once you get it going, it can really dish out lots of orange numbers.
Phe, if you'll PM me your current build, I may be able to give you some play advice, or a possible build to respec into that could help you out alot. I have two 50 Fire Blasters, so I know most of the fire secondary pretty damn well, and I have a 50 Fire/Kin controller, so I am really, really good with Fire Control. I'd be more than happy to offer you any advice that may result in you enjoying your killing machine more. =D

Are not all Dominators this way. I have a Gravity/Energy that just seems useless. Ya know kinda like a Wheel Chair with one wheel...
