Can't say that i've rolled a Dom, but besides the End issues, was your original build that bad?

Yes, the Ice/Psi couldnt even get half way through a fight or reach domination with out having to run or pop a blue.
A fight with 4 or 5 mobs would litteraly drain me and I was sloted for end also. +1 End enhance on most of the powers and still had problems. But, then again I was only level 10, with fitness It may have been differant, but I like the Mind/Fire build much better.

OK I didn't ask what you think is the best..I asked if anyone has tried this build.
So far I'm level 15 and the holds are great and the damage is realy good with the Fire based attacks socked for damage and accuacy, the mind controle atacks are socked for accuracy and hold times. Works realy well IMO.
Anyone else have a toon with this build over level 15?
I am looking forward to getting Firey Embrace and the Blazing Bolt Sniper Attack.
O and BTW..I tried Mind Ice, and the Endurance drain was HUGE. I had to pop 2 blues b4 Domination went off every time. With Mind/Fire I never wory about End, it usualy is fine and in a long fight I might need 1 blue to get to Domination, but I have NO powers socketed for Endurance Reduction.

I have a lvl 39 mind control/fire assault dominator.
I have a lot of fun with this character for both PvP and PvE. The Mind Control attacks of Mesmerize and Dominate have a really fast recharge rate, even without Hasten, but with Hasten I can build up "domination" faster. Also, these attacks are psionic and get through people's defense.
TK FTW. Telekinesis is auto-hit. Use it wisely & "strategically" .
Fire assault has the best damage, which is why I chose it.
Do not get mass sleep until later in the 40s.
1 Mesmerize
1 Flares
2 Dominate
4 Levitate
6 Hasten
8 Recall Friend
10 Fire Blast
12 Telekinesis
14) Super Speed
16 Fitness - leaping
18 Fitness - Heal
20 Fitness - Stamina
22) Teleport
24) Aid Other
26) Terrify
28) Aid Self
30) Fiery Embrace (Power Boost) - Ready for Siren's Call
32 Total Domination
35 Blazing BOlt
38 Consume
The remaining powers I plan to get are the following:
1) Confuse
2) Blaze - High Dmg, Slow rchg, short rng
3) Incinerate - High melee rng
4) Patron power that increases resistance (forgot name)
or
Combustion - mod dmg, AOE
5) Fiery Breath

Greetings fellow Mind/Fire dom. A lot of PvPers usually use super speed and super jump. I chose superspeed and teleport for the following reasons:
1) Webgrenade, caltrops, tarpatch, sticky-glue, ice slows (from archery) - there is no way to get out of these other than teleport, as far as I know. I just keep teleporting to a safe distance like the Tsoo Sorcerers until the slow effects wear off.
2) Super speed - "faster" for both mobility and recharge rates ------> faster domination build up.
Back in the old school days, before CoV came out, blasters would just hover and take people out. However, not all arena maps are flight friendly in PvP. People have figured out ways to take out flyers now. Stuns, mezz, sleeps, holds, web-grenades, etc. If that is your "only" travel power and you get knocked down with air-superiority or the others I mentioned above, you will meet "demise".

Use your free respec very wisely. I highly recommend the following to be "safe" so you don't regret your changes of your beloved mind/fire dominator.
1) Don't forget to copy your character to the test server
2) Respec on test server
3) Test your respec in the PVP arena and PVP zones
I'm telling you this from my past mistakes. If you don't do this, you could regret your respec and be forced to wait months for another respec when a new issue comes out =(
By the way, I am from Virtue. Come visit us sometime.
My global chat handle is @AlphaGuardian1 and my villain group's website is at www.omegasyndicate.info
I took a break from CoV for many months, but am super old school, and I'm definitely back.

Mind/Fire vs Em/Elec
This is a video of arguably one of the best mind/fire duelists in the game. Not sure exactly what her build is but it's rather phenomenal.
Also, flight and tp pool powers will get you nowhere in a PvP setting. Fitness, SS, SJ and either leadership or concealment for your 4th pool.
Hope you enjoy the vid and your new dom.

Nice video, and very inspiring. hehhe. I actually saw the mind/fire in this video use Teleport once after he/she used up all his green inspirations. He/she had SS, SJ, Teleport, and Patron Power pool for resistance.
After he/she used up all his greens, the mind/fire died twice. It was 3vs2. I know he picked teleport for those opponents that have slow, web grenade, tarpatch, and caltrop powers. Getting caught in those suck and you can do nothing with SS and SJ.
Since I still have my free respec, and now at lvl 40 which would you recommend for my mind/fire (addressing mainly madphinger)
Fitness, SS, SJ, Leadership (to see stalkers I presume?)
Fitness, SS, SJ, Teleport (same build as in video)
FItness, SS, Teleport, Heal (my current build/no knockback protection, but if I can hold with TK and other holds I will last longer with self heals, I could use inspirations for other things like blues, or oranges)
Input please from the man who dwells on the unofficial PvP server.

If you look, you'll notice she has Tactics running. So her pool powers are, Fitness, SS, SJ and Leadership. The TP you see her using is the temp power that you can buy from the arena.
As far as what you should go with, I've seen mind/fires do well with concealment and leadership so it's really a matter of what your playstyle is. But Fitness, SS and SJ are all must haves, in my opinion.
Edited to add: The leadership pool is too see other people that take stealth + stealth IO or invis. Only a few builds can get to the perception cap alone to see stalkers (/sr, /dark, ice/ with tactics and focused accuracy).
Also, many mind/fires don't take the medicine pool because they go with Scirocco as their patron cause the pet has a really nice heal that it will use on you.

| QUOTE | Nice video, and very inspiring.
Getting caught in those suck and you can do nothing with SS and SJ.
|
i also noticed the deaths. srry but if the dom didnt have those insps to start with, she probly wouldnt have lived long enough for a single kill on the brute. and for those of you that do not pvp that much, insps are very discouraged in one on one duels. (at least on protector)

I take issue with a statement like this. Inspirations are nothing more than an extension of your character. And a way to even the playing field since CoX PvP is balanced around team play and not 1v1. If insps were so looked down upon (as a whole) by the CoX community, you would only see controllers dueling and then not even that much (it would just be a race to see who gets the first hold appied).
Usually people who don't want you using insps are controllers or some other heavy mezzing type. Making sure you don't use BFs is a sure fire way to guarantee them a victory.
Inspirations are a way to give your rock a chance at beating paper.

Other games like Wow, have "uber" weapons and armor that factor in. They still use bandages and potions to heal up in PvP. Co(X) doesnt really have obtainable weapons and armor that factors in heavily in PvP.
Why have inspiration vendors in the arenas then?
If someone doesnt like inspirations in PvP, then write to the DEVS, and watch the wave of uproar and disappoval it will cause in the community/forums.
Doms are so squishy, so I understand their need for the use of inspirations. Those that pick Tactics to see stealth, and have two travel powers don't have a self heal.
Also, break frees dont work against telekinesis anyway. This makes up for the only controller-type that lacks a pet.

acually most doms that dont take aid self take the MU pet for heals and you can breakfree out of tk it just takes alot of em I dont mind people useing inspirations against my dom but I will use em as well then :)

If people didn't use insps then your dom would never get a fight. Why? Because it's not fun to be held for 10 mins straight in an arena match. Like I said before, insps are a way to balance the game in an unbalanced format, i.e. 1 vs. 1s.
