Hey, all...just wanted to put up some instructions on how you can get to the Training Room.
All you need to know about installing it and copying your characters over can be found here on the official boards.
If you just need the link to the Character Copy Tool, it is here.
Here's the text from CuppaJo's official post:
| QUOTE | What is a test server?
It’s your chance to preview upcoming changes and updates and provide feedback to the developers.
The test server is set up specifically for the testing of updates *before* they are incorporated into the game itself. Players can login, preview/test the planned new features, fixes, changes, tweaks and offer up bug reports or suggestions.
How does a test server differ from a “live” server?
Due to the nature and purpose of a test server, the operative word to keep in mind is “temporary.”
· Content and characters could be wiped at anytime as game specific updates and changes are published, tested and removed.
· Players can expect lower levels of support, since the bulk of this service is centered around our live servers.
· Normal bug reporting and petitions will be handled a bit differently, as all issues need to be given more time for in-depth study, review and reproduction.
Here’s how to install the test server client:
1. Locate the “CohUpdater.exe” file. If you installed the game from the retail cd, this will be in the game directory, which is “C:Program FilesCity of Heroes” by default.
2. Create a shortcut to this file.
3. Open the Properties for the newly created shortcut. In the “Target” window, add the following flag to the end of the line:
[space]-test
5. Run this shortcut.
The first time you run the shortcut, you will be asked if you want to install the test client to the default directory. Choose “Yes” if you want to install it there, or choose “No” if you want to choose a different directory. It is recommended that you install the test client in a different location than your normal game client.
Once the test client is installed, you can launch the test client by using this same shortcut.
Additional Information:
· The test client does not include an uninstall program. To remove it, you will have to delete it manually.
· If you uninstall the normal game client, it will remove the “CohUpdater.exe” file. If you plan to remove the normal game client but continue to use the test client, be sure to make a copy of this file first.
Link to the Character Copy Tool to transfer your character to the test server.
https://secure.cityofheroes.com/cgi-bin/coh_transfer.pl
Use your City of Heroes login name and password to login.
After you login, you will be able to select the server and character you wish to copy to the test server. It will take several moments, but the character will copy. At this point you will be able to play the test server.
NOTE - Those who have just restarted their accounts may experience a delay or wait of up to 24 hours to be able to copy a character to the test server.
After you copy your character to the test server, you should be able to play the test client. Before you can play however, you will have to run the new shortcut you created to the cohupdater. You can copy the shortcut you created to the desktop by dragging and dropping it from the City of Heroes folder to the desktop. You will have to run this shortcut each time you wish to use the test server. Enjoy playing! |

Okay. Check your Properties on the program link in your Start Menu. If your Test Server program is loaded in the Default folder it should look exactly like this...
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe" -test
AND I MEAN EXACTLY. With the quotation (") marks as shown spaces and all. If you have it installed to another directory then it should still have quotation marks surrounding the program link...then a space then -test. At least that is what I have on a Windows XP SP2 system.
And Kudos, Caligari for pimping my favorite subject. Holla at a playa. Peace...out.

The easy way.
Make a copy of your CoV shortcut on your desktop.
Rename the copy to "CoV Test Server". Right click on it and go to Properties.
In the Target field, go to the very end of the line. It should say something like: "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe"
(On yours it will probably say D:\...)
At the very end of the line, after the " add in a space, followed by -TEST, so the end of the line will look like this: \CohUpdater.exe" -TEST
Double click on the shortcut and let it download for a year and a half. It might ask you where you want to install the program, just make sure you tell it the NEW location you want it, like D:\COVTEST or something.
