As I sit in the holding ward at the Zig, I see this man in a white coat wearing dark shades enter and start talking with the guards. They led him over to my cell and let him in.
The gentleman introduced himself only as ‘a Doctor’ and that he was there to check on my status and to see if I needed psychiatric attention…you know, the basic jail entry exams and so on…but I wasn’t buying that story for one second, but I decided to entertain him though, as I had no where else to be…for the moment.
‘Now, Fallacy of Wrath is it…tell me, why have you committed these grievous crimes? What made you commit those countless acts of violence?’
Looking at him with a smirk, ‘because it was fun?! Nothing better else to do?! They were home?! Right place, wrong time maybe?! Gee, I don’t know Doc; you tell me why I did it? You tell me why I killed an entire neighborhood…come on Doc; you’re the professional…why don’t you tell me!’
‘Humph,’ squirmed the Doctor visibly inspecting the containment unit that I was in. ‘Now…Fallacy, please, if we are to help you, you must be willing to help yourself first. The first step to rehabilitation is to confront your past demons and repent for your sins. Now, again, why did you do it?’
I sat up, still smirking and replied, ‘you know something Doc, I’m going to do something against my better judgment. I’m actually going to... indulge you in this little cat and mouse game you have going here. You want to know what makes me tick, I’ll tell you. But first, you have to clear the room. What I say here today, will never leave this room. I know I can trust you because you’re bound by obligation not to tell anything that I share with you, but the guards…not a chance. So if you really want to know what makes me tick and who I am, do away with those guards.’
The Doctor looked puzzled for a second but I could tell his cockiness got the better of him. He turned to the 10 security guards that were behind him and gestured for them to exit the room. ‘Now, they are gone, you can continue…’
‘Good,’ I said with a smirk, ‘now I’ll share with you the story of Fallacy of Wrath and why I do what I do...’
When I was just a little girl, I had the perfect life or so I thought. I had what every kid dreamed of, a loving father, a caring mother, even a brother and sister. We lived in the storybook house with the white picket fence and a dog. We couldn’t ask for anything better. Then one day, that world came to a close, my father was fatally injured on his job. They didn’t give him long to live. We were given an opportunity to see him one last time before he died…and that turned out to be the turning point in my life. My father worked at a biochemical plant and was working on a secret project for the Freedom Corps and was infected with something from one of their top secret projects. Well, whatever he had, he gave it to me, I would later find out. I was close to my father, closer than any of my other siblings. He was my world, my guardian, my piece of mind.
Anyway, after our visit, some agents of the Freedom Corp took my father away and we never saw him again. We presumed him dead as this is all the indications that the men wearing the Dark glasses would give us. My mother attempted for months to get answers but was always met with, stern denies and blanket answers. But what can you do, when the people that are designed to serve and protect, takes your loved one away and leaves you with no place to turn for help.
Well, in the ensuing years, after my father supposedly passed, we were still a happy family, until my mother started dating and bringing her boyfriends around the house. By this time, since I was much younger than my other siblings, it was just me and mom. Now the life I was always promised by my parents was lost the first time one of her boyfriends touched me…and this wasn’t the last time I was touched either. You see, my mother developed a drug addiction problem. After my father passed she became very depressed and started drinking and pill popping to ease some of the hurt and grief…then the men started coming. She brought man after man around, probably trying to get a quick fix, but non the less, when she wasn’t able to…give them what they wanted, they always turned their attentions towards me, and my mother just turned a blind eye to it all…and this was a person that told me she would always protect me and love me.
Well, I grew up and found myself married to a man that swore he loved me and would honor, cherish, respect and be loyal and faithful. Well, after only a mere six months into the marriage, I found myself the object of his physical desires. You see, he drank and was always under heavy stress from work and he needed a place to vent those frustrations. At first, it started off as yelling, and then moved into pushing and shoving, then into violent shaking, until the fatal day he clenched a fist and sent it barreling straight into my face. This was when we had hit the point of no return. The routine became; he went to work; people pissed him off, come home and take it out on me.
Well, this continued until one day…I discovered exactly what it was that my father had gifted me. The one true person that ever had love for me, that never did anything wrong to me…had given me a gift from the grave. Well, the final day my husband came home, he started in on his routine, however, this time a different result occurred. I guess I had had enough of the abuse because without a thought I struck out against him. I can’t explain how or why, but I did…and it felt good. Then out of nowhere, little spines started protruding through my body and shooting into my husband. The thoughts were there and it’s as if, they were following what I was thinking. Strange though, the spikes didn’t hurt…well, they didn’t hurt me, can’t say the same for my…late husband.
Well, this is where Fallacy of Wrath was born and all that was left of my old shell of a person died. The anger within me for all those years finally triggered a reaction to the chemicals my father passed to me. With some years of training and understanding my gifts, I was ready to make the world pay for what it has done to me. Everyone my whole life had lied to me, made me live a false reality, and tainted my view of what was and what should have been. A child growing up in a safe environment, is a lie. I was promised it and never received it…now I’m going to show everyone just how much a lie can hurt.
Well, this is where we come to the neighborhood the Long Bow picked me up. I went there, because that’s where I was raised. This is the place that started all the hurt for me. I wanted to put an end to any trace of my painful past, so I can move forward with my glorious future. I knew that if there were any traces of my old identity to be found anywhere, then I would not be able to come and go as I pleased without worrying about your Longbow Officers knocking down my doors in the middle of the night. I figured, destroy all traces of my existence and I’m off free to do what ever I pleased to whomever I pleased. My main goal was to eradicate the entire neighborhood and everyone in it, and if not for that blasted radioactive Officer and that damned Nullifier, I would have succeeded in my goals, but seven city blocks wasn’t a bad start. I hadn’t planned on anyone being able to nullify my healing abilities and deplete my endurance that easy.
‘So Doc…is that what you wanted to hear? Are you satisfied? You now know what makes Fallacy tick. You know a little of my rhyme and reason for existing. So, where do we go from here?’
‘Well, Fallacy…until we can decide on the best course of action to take, we’re going to process you in the Zig and hold you for further observations.’
‘Wrong answer Doc or should I say Freedom Corp Agent! Didn’t think that I would remember the stench of the people that took my father and my life away from me? Why do you think I went back to the old neighborhood? I knew, after all of these years, that you would still be camped out there…just in case there was a sign of anything out of the ordinary that might be traced back to you. Oh, and by the way, if you hadn’t noticed, I was just stalling for time so I could recover from my fight with your Longbow lap dogs. This was ultimately my true desire, to be placed face to face with someone responsible for my life turning out the way that it did. I would like to thank you for giving me a new lease on life, but in order to live freely, I have to erase all existence of me and any information you have, so I guess I’ll get started with why I really came here, I hope this doesn’t hurt too much…’
And at that moment, I released a burst of spines the ripped through the entire room. The containment unit splintered under the barrage and the Doctor could only sit with an amazed look as the spines ripped through him. Now free, I ripped through the door and took down all 10 of the security guards that were posted outside. I then made my way over the Zig wall to extract my Justice on the city that took my innocence from me.
